Area ceremonies scheduled for Veterans Day

The East Aurora and Elma communities will honor members of the military this Sunday, Nov. 11, with Veterans Day ceremonies.

American Legion Post 362 will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the post, 1 Legion Drive, East Aurora. A short speech will be made, followed by a rifle salute.

A Veterans Day ceremony will also be held at 11 a.m. at Elma Town Hall, 1600 Bowen Road. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

The Iroquois Foundation will hold the 4-mile Salute to Veterans run. Preregistration will start at 7:30 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. at Iroquois Veterans Memorial, 2111 Girdle Road, Elma, and ending at the Made in America store, 1000 W. Maple Court, Elma.

Awards will be given to the overall male and female runner, top male and female veteran runner, and top male and female Iroquois Central School District employee. A free shuttle will be available to transport people from the finish line back to their cars.

At 10 a.m., the Elma, Marilla, Wales Boys and Girls Club will host a color run. The starting and finish line is the same as the Salute to Veterans run. Registration is $20, and all proceeds will go toward the EMW Boys and Girls Club playground.
