Learn about history of Elma

Elma Town Historian Frank Maciejewski will give a presentation on the history of Elma from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Elma Public Library, 1860 Bowen Road, Elma. Guests are invited to share their own stories during the event. The event is free, and registration is not required.

Beer and cheese pairing at EA Co-op

42 North Brewing Co. will hold a free beer and cheese pairing event from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the East Aurora Cooperative Market, 591 Main St., East Aurora. Guests will have a chance to try a locally brewed beer paired with cheese. Open to those 21 and older.

Free movies offered in Hamlin Park

Families are invited to watch the “Lego Batman Movie” starting at dusk on Friday, Aug. 10, at Hamlin Park, 166 S. Grove St., East Aurora. The event runs every Friday through the end of August. Activities will be held before the start of the movie. Concessions are available, and guests will have an opportunity to win door prizes.

EA Garden Club to host picnic

The East Aurora Garden Club will hold its annual picnic and auction at noon Monday, Aug. 13, at the Elma Town Park, Shelter No. 1, 3011 Bowen Road, Elma. For meeting or group information, call Jo at 655-6736.

Teens invited to draw exotic animals

Teens 13 and older are invited to MUSEjar for a class on how to draw exotic animals. The program will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at 17 Elm St., East Aurora. All supplies will be provided; tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.musejar.com.

Tickets available for car raffle

St. Gabriel’s Church is holding a raffle, with the grand prize being a new car. The raffle will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at St. Gabriel’s Church, 5271 Clinton St., Elma. One winner will get to choose between one of four base-model Chevrolet autos, or $20,000. Tickets for the car raffle are $50 and can be purchased by calling the rectory at 668-4017 or 668-4362. Tickets for a gas card raffle are also available for $5.

42 North plans golf tournament

The 42 North Brewing Co. is hosting a golf tournament from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at East Aurora Country Club, 300 Girdle Road, East Aurora. The scramble-style tournament will also feature a Beer Pong Chipping Contest, as well as several other nontraditional golf contests. Beer sampling stations will be set up throughout the course. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com.

Local foundation to hold golf tourney

The Matthew Foster Foundation will hold its annual golf tournament from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the East Aurora Country Club, 300 Girdle Road, East Aurora. Lunch begins at noon, and the tournament kicks off at 1 p.m. Dinner will take place at 6 p.m. with prizes and a live auction to follow. Those interested are required to wear soft-spike shoes. Public invited to sell items at Elma church

The St. Gabriel’s Ladies Guild is sponsoring a flea market extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at 5271 Clinton St., Elma. Spaces can be purchased for $10, or two for $15. Those wishing to sell items inside the air-conditioned parish hall may rent a spot for $20 per table. Payment must be made in advance, and refunds are not available. Fire company plans recruitment event

The Elma Fire Company will host a recruitment open house starting at noon Saturday, Sept. 22, at the main hall, located at 2945 Bowen Road, Elma. The child-friendly event features games, prizes and food, along with a tour of the fire hall and fire-related demonstrations.

Meat raffle taking place at ice rink

The Aurora Ice Association is hosting a meat raffle from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Healthy Zone Rink, 41 Riley St., East Aurora. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the raffle to start at 7 p.m. An after-party will be held at 42 North Brewing Co., 25 Pine St., East Aurora. Tickets are $8 presale and $10 at the door. SASi to hold annual Artisan Show

Suburban Adult Services Inc. will hold its fifth annual Artisan Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Elma Day Program, 960 W. Maple Court, Elma.
