SAVE THE DATE — I know, it’s been a hot few days. But honestly, after the winter we just experienced, I’m not complaining. Hopefully, you’re all finding ways to stay cool.

Speaking of cool, take a look at some of the cool events taking place in the community this month.

The Roycroft Campus will host a Twilight Tour of the tower on the campus starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at 31 S. Grove St., East Aurora. The tour will lead guests up to the top floor of the tower on the campus, along with the triangular Ruskin Room of the inn, the round tower of the chapel, and the square turret of the print shop. Registration is required; for more information, visit www.roycroftcampuscorp.com.

The fifth annual Knox Memorial Cup will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Knox Farm Polo Field, 500 Knox Road, East Aurora. Tickets for brunch, which begins at 11 a.m., are $125, with the polo match starting at noon. The funds raised at the event will go toward supporting the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital Therapeutic Riding Center. For tickets, visit Knoxsta bles.org or call 901-1587.

Expecting mothers, this one’s for you: Creative Wellness, located on the third floor of 726 Main St., East Aurora, is offering moms-to-be a relaxing foot bath. The class will also teach women how to take time for themselves during and after their pregnancy. The class will take place starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 12. The cost is $25, pre-registration is required, and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.creativewell nessgroup.com.

Get ready to dance the flurglerhurp and enjoy some authentic German beer during Waldfest. This event dedicated to German culture takes place from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Spring Garden Park, 3838 Two Rod Road, East Aurora. Music will be provided by the German American Musicians. Tickets cost $8, or $15 at the gate. For more information, call 310-6600.

We wrap up the month with the East Aurora Sidewalk Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 28, on Main Street between Olean Road and Riley Street. This free event features food, vendors and demonstrations. For more information, call 652-8444 or visitwww.eanycc.co.

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS — Several area students have been awarded $700 scholarships by the Eastern Erie Retired Teachers Association.

The group is made up of retired teachers from Alden, East Aurora, Iroquois and Holland school districts.

The recipients of the award include Tyler Phillips of East Aurora High School, Riley Jones of Holland and Dylan Schiffhauer of Iroquois High School. All of the students who received the award were graduating seniors who will use the money toward their future education.

IMPROVEMENT — The Bee, myself included, is always looking for ways in which we can improve your community newspaper. Are there events going on that we’re not covering? Do we give too much attention to certain topics? What articles are you reading — or never bother to look at — each week?

I want your feedback. Send your comments to me via email at KateP@beenews.com.I also encourage you to leave comments on The East Aurora Bee fan page at www.facebook.com/EastAurorabee.
