Chamber survey highlights needs of members

Earlier this year, the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce distributed a membership survey to its 450 members as a way to gain feedback on its services, as well address the challenges of the current business climate.

The 15-question survey allowed members to weigh-in on issues related to challenges facing their business, why they feel membership with the chamber is important, and if they believe the membership with the chamber is a good value for their business. The survey, which was open to members for a two-week period, received 153 responses.

Of the 153 people who responded, 140 reported they felt the chamber membership was a good value. The survey also showed business owners felt the biggest challenge was obtaining new customers, as reported by 45 members. Other concerns included finding qualified candidates to fill job openings, payroll taxes and government regulations.

A significant number of members also reported one of the things they value the most about the organization is the connection and relationship made with other chamber members.

Chamber leaders say their priorities include partnering with area business and Visit Buffalo Niagara to drive tourism traffic for merchants, as well as working with businesses and local school districts to address workforce development needs.

The Chamber Board of Directors will continue to evaluate the survey responses and plans on reaching out to members who have further questions. The group plans on using the information gathered in the survey to help meet the needs of members and help shape the growth of the East Aurora community and its surrounding areas.
