Paczki Day’s 21st edition scheduled for Feb. 11

The 21st annual Paczki Day will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral, 6298 Broadway, Lancaster.

The Polish Heritage Dancers will take the stage at 3 p.m., and Special Delivery will be playing crowd-favorite polkas from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Polish kitchen will be open for dinners, as well as a la carte items, desserts and, of course, paczki. Paczki are deep-fried pieces of dough shaped into flattened spheres and filled with jam or other sweet filling. A traditional filling is marmalade made from fried rosebuds. Fresh paczki are usually covered with powdered sugar, icing or bits of fried orange zest. Polish beer will also be available.

In addition, there will be a basket raffle and the crowning of the Paczki king, queen, prince and princess.

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Tickets for children younger than 12 are $2.
