Knox Farm State Park to host Bark Bash

Bark Bash returns to Knox Farm State Park for its second annual event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at 437 Buffalo Road, East Aurora. Organized by the Friends of Knox Farm, the event is an opportunity for four-legged friends to bring their owners to the park for a day of fun activities for good causes.

Visitors will be able to shop for pet-friendly items, supplies and non-dog-related items, as more than 50 vendors will be in attendance. There will also be more than a dozen not-for-profits and animal rescue groups, with several adoption agencies that will have dogs looking for a home.

A highlight of the day is the “Country Comfort Inn Bark Dash,” a three-quarter mile walk through the park for dogs and their owners. There is an entry fee of $10, of which 100 percent will go directly to support Knox Farm State Park.

Each participant will receive a bandana, raffle tickets and an extra gift. Those interested are encouraged to register online through the Friends of Knox Farm website at www.friendsofknoxfarm.org or sign up that day.

Other contests that day include best costume, best dog/owner look-alike and best trick. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category. Throughout the day, there will be music, a basket raffle and a variety of food trucks. The dog park will also be open for all pups to get some exercise.

Bark Bash is a free-to-the -public event with the exception of the “Bark Dash.” All well-behaved, vaccinated, leashed pets are welcome to bring their owners. For more information, visit www.friendsofknoxfarm.org or the Bark Bash Facebook page at www.facebook.com/events/579124378932278.
