Snapping turtle removed from road

Wednesday, May 10

Police responded to a crash at Lapham and Cook roads. The driver, police say, was slurring her speech and had a strong odor of alcohol. The driver reportedly told the officer she had consumed a pint of whiskey prior to driving the vehicle.

Thursday, May 11

A Quaker Road resident reported that he was contacted by the U.S. Office of Personal Management, regarding a Verizon account filed in collections with a total of $475. The man told police he called Verizon and informed it of the identity theft.

Sheriff’s Report

Friday, May 5

A resident on Bowen Road called deputies after receiving threatening emails from a person claiming to be from the IRS.

Saturday, May 6

A East Center Road resident was warned by deputies to stop sending harassing text messages.

Sunday, May 7

On Fernott Drive, a resident called deputies after hearing two gunshots in the area. Upon further investigation, deputies say they believe the sound possibly came from a car exhaust.

A tree was blocking the roadway at Girdle and Chairfactory roads. A neighbor helped remove the tree using a utility tractor.

Monday, May 8

A driver on Route 400 hit and killed a deer. The vehicle, which was damaged, was towed away. A vehicle was damaged by an unknown person in the parking lot of the Jamison Business Park.

Tuesday, May 9

A person was taken to a hospital with neck and back pain following a two-car accident on Maple Road.

Wednesday, May 10

• A snapping turtle was removed from the middle of Route 400 at Jamison Road.

Thursday, May 11

A dog was spotted running loose in the middle of Clinton Street. A dog control officer was called and was able to catch the dog.
