Library events

LEGO Club will be held at 11 a.m. Saturdays through May 5. The club is for ages 7 and up and is limited to 18 children. Call or stop by the library to register.

“Book Babies” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays; “Toddler Time” at 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays; and “Story Time” at 6:30 p.m. Mondays. “Story Time” for children ages 3 to 5 who do not attend school programs will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays or 1:30 p.m. Thursdays. Programs run through April 26. Call the library for more information.

The library will present a series of computer classes in February and March. “Internet Intermediate” will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17. “Downloads 2 Go” will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 2. Finally, “Introduction to eBay” will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 16. Space is limited for all programs. Call the library for additional information or to register.

The SPCA will present a preschool story and craft hour at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. The event is for children ages 2 to 5 and requires registration to attend. Call Mary Jo Sicurella at 629-3538.

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, Doug Rougeux will perform “Bubble Mania,” a combination of bubble art and science. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Aurora Town Library.

Books, CDs, DVDs, records and puzzles may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, for the used book sale to be held in June. No Reader's Digests, encyclopedias or text books will be accepted. For information or to arrange for pickup of books, call the library. There is no book drop in February.

Library events

The LEGO Club will be held again from 11 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of each month. Ages 6 to 12 are welcome, and sign-up is required for each monthly session. Contact the library to register. The theme for February is “Young Inventors.”

“Book Babies,” for newborns through age 2½, will be from 11:30 to 11:50 a.m. Tuesdays. “Toddler Time,” for ages 2½ to 3½, will take place from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays. “Preschool Story Time,” for ages 3½ to 5½, takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays. All three programs run for a six-week period, and all require registration to attend.

A special Board Game and Craft Day is set aside during the February vacation from school. This will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Children ages 6 and up are welcome, and no registration is required.

Movie Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24. “Cars 2” will be the feature presentation. Snacks will be provided, and no registration is required.

Pizza Lover’s Club of the Elma Library will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27. This club is for grades 6 to 8. Registration is required.

Local author and gardening expert, Sally Cunningham, will speak at the Elma Public Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29. Her presentation, “More Bang with Perennials,” is sponsored by the Friends of the Elma Library. Sally will show new ways to use perennials, recommend superior perennials for use in yards, and provide tips for pruning and cutting back plants. The program is free, but registration is requested by calling the library.

“Downloads 2 Go” classes at the Elma Public Library will offer hands-on training for downloadable eBooks. Free workshops will provide an introduction to downloading eBooks from the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library website for use on home computers and other personal electronic devices. Special focus will be on the Nook and Kindle. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices of any kind. The classes are scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 20. Register in person or by calling the library.

The library will present “Just Joking,” a story time for children in grades K-3 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7. Call or stop by the library to register.
