The Boys and Girls Club of East Aurora has received a state grant of $993,000 to build an addition to its existing facility on Paine Street, according to an announcement by Gov. Mario Cuomo.

Polo ’92, a benefit polo tournament for Buffalo General Hospital, will be held on Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, at the Knox Polo Field on Knox Road, East Aurora. Tea Brook Polo Club of East Aurora will be hosting teams from Toronto, Skaneateles and Darlington, Pa., at the Empire Sports Network Polo Park.

Calling for an end to “business as usual” in Albany, Christine M. Peruzzini of East Aurora has received the endorsement of Erie County Republicans to run for the state Assembly in the 145th District.

A bird was observed flying around the rafters of town hall during Monday’s meeting of the Aurora Town Board. The bird seemed to get all the attention during the meeting and invoked comments from many people from the meeting. No one said that the town was going to the birds, though.

A committee investigating the possibility of building a community center for the Town of Elma has recommended that the town continue to pursue the construction of a new center. At a town board meeting on July 1, Supervisor John DiJoseph said the committee is recommending “that there is a definite need for a new Town Hall.”
