MUSIC FEST — We are less than a month away from East Aurora Music Fest, which will take place from 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday, June 10.

This year, bands and musicians will perform at The Griffon Gastropub, East Aurora Healthy Rink, 42 North Brewing Company and 11th Frame Bowling.

Keep in mind that traffic that day will be heavy, so plan accordingly. If you haven’t checked out the lineup, I encourage you to do so by visiting www.eamusicfest.com.

ROAD CLOSURE — Porterville Road is now closed between Hemstreet and West Blood roads. It looks like it will remain closed until Sept. 1, or until construction is completed. We will keep you updated

CRAFT BREW HONOR — How cool is it that our little town was chosen by Lt. Gov Kathy Hochul as the place to kick off Craft Beer Week? East Aurora is in a great location for brewing, with all the agriculture surrounding it. John Cimperman, co-owner of 42 North, told Hochul that often, hops farmers actually come into the brewery to talk about their crops and to do business. He also said there are plans to expand the already popular brewery.

If you’re looking to try more of 42 North’s brews, this weekend is the perfect time to do so. The Full Circle Fest is taking place from 2 to 6 p.m. at 42 North, located at 25 Pine St. Of course, other breweries will be there, too, showcasing their local products. A ticket for the event costs $30 and includes a pig roast meal. It’s a great way to celebrate Craft Beer Week and support a local business.

STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH —There are a lot of cool horse-related activities coming up this summer in East Aurora.

On June 10, the Freedom Trail Ride/Walk will take place at Knox Farm State Park from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The event is hosted by Roanchar Ranch Draft Horse Rescue in Varysburg. Download the registration form from www.roancharranchrescue.org and send it in to ride for a great cause. Yours truly will be there riding to support rescue horses.

The next day, the East Aurora Driving Society will host its Driving/ Schooling show at Knox Farm State Park. The event is open to both amateur and professional driving enthusiasts. For more information, call Liz O’Donnell at 380-5724.

The fourth annual Knox Memorial Cup will be held at Knox Farm starting at 2 p.m. July 22 and 23. Sunset Polo will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday will be the signature champagne brunch catered by Oliver’s. All proceeds will benefit John R. Oshei Children’s Hospital.
