Fourteen Elma citizens and organization representatives have been appointed to look into the possibility of building a multi-purpose community facility in the Town of Elma. Elma Supervisor John DiJoseph requested volunteers for an expanded citizens advisory committee that would research building a combined town hall, senior citizens’s center and youth center.

The Elma Town Board overturned a vote to deny Connie Trzepacz a promotion at its March 6 meeting.

A Marilla man landed his pickup truck upside down in Big Buffalo Creek at about 4:30 Saturday morning, the Erie County Sheriff’s Department reports. The man sustained head and neck injuries and a broken leg. He had to be lifted by the Alden snorkel unit before being rushed by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center.

The lighting of the torch began with Olympic music and a parade of people, some waving flags and others carrying torches. Thanks to the help of their parents and teachers, the first-grade classes at Marilla Primary celebrated the Winter Olympics XVI with style.

Buffalo Bills backup quarterback Frank Reich was one of seven players who appeared at East Aurora High School as part of a basketball game to raise money for the sophomore and junior class. At halftime the players signed autographs for the crowd of 1,200.
