Library events

LEGO Club will be held at 11 a.m. Saturdays through May 5. The club is for ages 7 and up and is limited to 18 children. Call or stop by the library to register.

“Book Babies” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays; “Toddler Time” at 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays; and “Story Time” at 6:30 p.m. Mondays. “Story Time” for children ages 3 to 5 who do not attend school programs will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays or 1:30 p.m. Thursdays. Programs run through April 26. Call the library for more information.

The SPCA Wildlife Department will hold a family program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12. It will feature guest appearances by non-releaseable birds of prey. For more information, contact the library.

Books, CDs, DVDs, records and puzzles may be dropped off at the library between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, for the June used book sale. No Reader’s Digests, encyclopedias or textbooks will be accepted. To arrange for a pickup, contact the library.

“Google It,” a hands-on training program for adults wishing to learn more about the Internet search engine, will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 20. “Downloads 2 Go,” for anyone who’d like to learn more about eBooks, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 27. The focus will be on the Nook and Kindle. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices if applicable. Both classes are part of series of computer classes being offered through May. Space is limited for both classes, so call or stop by the library to register.

Kevin Ransom will bring his 35 years of experience with appraising rare books to the library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1. Following his presentation, Ransom will do one free book appraisal per person. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited, so call or stop by the library to register.

“Family History Research” will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 18. The program is free for adults interested in tracing their family history using Ancestry Library Edition, available at any Buffalo & Erie County Library branch. Space is limited, so stop by or call the library to register.

Library events

The LEGO Club will be held again from 11 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of each month. Ages 6 to 12 are welcome, and sign-up is required for each monthly session. Contact the library to register.

“Book Babies,” for newborns through age 2½, will be from 11:30 to 11:50 a.m. Tuesdays. “Toddler Time,” for ages 2½ to 3½, will take place from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays. “Preschool Story Time,” for ages 3½ to 5½, takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays. All three programs run for a six-week period, and all require registration to attend.

The library will offer hands-on beginner computer workshops from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays during the month of April. “Computer Basics” will be held on April 11, “Internet Basics” on April 18, and “Email Basics” on April 25. The classes require basic mouse skills, and space is limited. Call or stop by the library to register.

“Downloads 2 Go” at the Elma Public Library will offer hands-on training for downloadable eBooks. Free workshops will provide an introduction to downloading eBooks from the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library website for use on home computers and other personal electronic devices. Special focus will be on the Nook and Kindle. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices of any kind. The class is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 20.
