Baker Memorial UMC to hold Lenten services

Annunciation School to celebrate St. Patty’s
“Luck & Laughs,” an Irish-themed dinner and comedy night to benefit the school, will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Michael’s Banquet Facility, 4885 Southwestern Blvd. Tickets are $35 per person or $250 for a reserved table of eight. Elma Fire Auxiliary sets chicken barbecue
The Elma Fire Auxiliary will host a Krolick’s chicken barbecue at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 18. Dinners will be available for $9 each until sold out. Takeout service is available also. For more information, contact the fire hall at 652-1678.
Variety Club to hold telethon kickoff party
The Variety Club Women’s Tent No. 7 will hold its annual telethon kickoff cocktail party from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at the Millennium Hotel, 2040 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga. There is a $15 donation, and proceeds will benefit the annual Variety Club Kids Telethon for Women & Children’s Hospital. There will be a theme tray auction, hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Chicken BBQ to benefit Marilla Fire Company
The Marilla Fire Company Benevolent Association is sponsoring a chicken barbecue at noon Sunday, March 25, at the Marilla Recreation Hall at Two Rod Road and West Avenue. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. Takeout will be available.
Pathways to hold monthly events
Pathways Christian Fellowship, 6387 Olean Road, will have used appliances and furniture for people in need available Tuesday, March 20. First-time visitors may take up to three items for free, and returnees may take one item for a small donation. Donations are tax-deductible. Also, the church is sponsoring a free community dinner at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. For more information, call 777-4007.
French toast breakfast available from Elma Fire
The Elma Fire Auxiliary will host a French toast breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the Elma Fire Hall, 2945 Bowen Road. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger and are available from any member of the fire company. Takeout will also be available.
St. Gabriel’s sponsors lunch, auction
St. Gabriel’s Ladies Guild is sponsoring a “Hat and White Glove” luncheon and auction on Saturday, April 14, at Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road, Depew. The doors will open at 11 a.m., with the luncheon held at noon and the auction following at 1 p.m. Presale tickets are available only until April 7 and may be ordered by contacting Pattie at 668-6700 or Kate at 574-3964.
Rivendell seeking volunteers for programs
Rivendell Recreation Center, 12469 Warner Hill Road, will hold a volunteer training day from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 21. The center offers horseback riding programs for challenged children and adults. Volunteers earn a tax deduction on the gas used to drive to and from the center.
