Two arrested in connection with area burglaries
East Aurora police have charged two Lancaster males with the theft of various items from unlocked cars.
Sean M. Turek, 20, of 20 Michael Anthony Lane in Lancaster, is currently incarcerated in the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden on non-related charges. East Aurora police obtained a warrant and at press time, were scheduled to carry out the arrest on Wednesday.
Zachariah D. Hrusa, 17, of 7 Cadet Court in Lancaster, was arrested on Jan. 26. He was arraigned before Aurora Town Justice Jeffrey Markello and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $10,000 bail.
Turek and Hrusa were each charged with five counts of petit larceny and one count of burglary.
The two are accused of stealing various items from unlocked cars in the West Falls area, including GPS devices, cameras, cellphones, laptop computers, iPods, CDs and loose change. Police also allege that they removed an LCD flat-screen television set and a chain saw while burglarizing a Reading Road home.
The arrests were made possible from information received by Lancaster Police Detective Keith Kerl, according to a release from the EAPD. Kerl then turned that information over to East Aurora Police Detective Rick Daminski.
Police were able to recover some of the stolen items at area pawn shops. In the release, the EAPD again stressed the importance of residents keeping their homes and vehicles locked.
