Firefighters were called to the 93-year-old Shore’s Circle Inn on Jan. 28, 1963. They battled the blaze in near-zero temperatures but were unable to save the structure. Plans to rebuild a hotel at the site never materialized. Instead, the site became the home of Jester’s, a hamburger restaurant. Since the early 1980s, it has been the site of McDonald’s.
