‘Musical Journey’ series continues next week at Roycroft Inn

Schneider Schneider Beautiful love songs from one of the world’s most romantic countries will be the highlight of the Roycroft Campus Corporation’s upcoming Little Musical Journey Dinner Concert.

“A Romantic Night in Italy” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Roycroft Inn, 40 S. Grove St. It will be an intimate evening to share a love of opera, Italian cuisine and fine wines, according to a release from the inn.

The works of the Italian composers Verdi, Rossini, Puccini and others will be presented throughout the evening. Selections from “La Boheme,” “The Barber of Seville,” “Rigoletto” and “O Sole Mio” will be performed by Western New York vocalists Leah Schneider and Maggie Zindle.

Schneider is a graduate of the Crane School of Music at Potsdam State College. She performed regularly with the Crane Opera Ensemble in such productions as “The Mikado,” “The Threepenny Opera,” “Orpheus and the Underworld,” and various scene programs including “The Marriage of Figaro.”

Zindle Zindle Locally, she has performed with O’Connell and Company, the Alleyway Theater, in the world premiere of the original musical, “Italian Serenade,” and Opera Sacra in its production of “Suor Angelica.” Schneider made her solo debut with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in “Hansel and Gretel” and has returned to the BPO as a guest soloist for other various engagements. This past summer she made her solo debut with the Chautauqua Symphony, singing “The Bach Magnificat” paired with Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass.”

Zindle performed with the Buffalo

Philharmonic Chorus during the 2008-2011 seasons. She also performed for the BPO’s “West Side Story” concert in the role of Anita and the Buffalo Ensemble Theater’s production of “The 3 Soprani.”

Other roles include Mrs. Grace in the Irish Classical Theater’s critically acclaimed “A Man of No Importance,” and Aldonza in “Man of La Mancha” at the Kavinoky Theatre. She has performed at Lincoln Center in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” and played The Girl in Noel Coward’s “OH, COWARD!” Her favorite roles include Eliza in “My Fair Lady” and Guinevere in “Camelot” at the Kavinoky Theatre, for which she won the Buffalo ArtVoice Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical in 1994 and 1995.

Accompanying Schneider and Zindle will be tenors Chris Wietag and John Reagan, soprano Alex Del Price and pianist Susan Schuman.

The proceeds from “A Little Musical Journey” will benefit the Roycroft Campus Corporation’s educational programs, designed to teach and promote the American Arts and Crafts Movement and the ideals of Elbert Hubbard. Currently, educational programs are being offered for all ages, and it is the RCC’s goal to expand its reach in the future.
