Holland man charged with marijuana possession, sales
A Holland man will return to Aurora Town Court next week in connection with his arrest earlier this month for allegedly selling marijuana out of a local business.
East Aurora police arrested Lawrence J. Poitras Jr., 20, on Jan. 4 and charged him with felony criminal sale and felony criminal possession of marijuana, both in the third degree.
EAPD received complaints alleging that Poitras was selling marijuana out of the business. According to Detective Rick Daminski, undercover officers observed Poitras selling marijuana, and Lt. Shane Krieger used Zando, his K-9 dog, who pointed police to additional marijuana in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Poitras supposedly used during the transaction.
Police seized 56 grams of marijuana, said Daminski, along with $1,575 in cash and the vehicle. He added that at this time, police have no reason to believe that anyone else was involved.
Poitras was arraigned the same day in front of Aurora Town Justice Jeffrey Markello. He is scheduled for further court proceedings on Feb. 1.
