Elma Meadows senior golf club seeks members

The Erie County “Golden Agers” golf club is seeking new members. The group plays every Monday morning at Elma Meadows County Park & Golf Course at senior rates. The club dues are $30 per year and include handicap calculation, four picnics with food and beverages provided, and weekly cash prizes. Anyone age 62 and older interested in joining can call Dick Vogel at 668-5222.

American Legion Riders to hold vets’ benefit

The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Legion Riders will sponsor a “Fun Run - Riding to Celebrate with Aging Military Veterans” on Saturday, Aug. 6. Registration is from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. with the event kicking off at noon. Tickets are $20 per rider, or $30 with a passenger. Anyone bringing a new baseball cap to donate will receive a free raffle ticket. The funds raised will be used to provide Christmas gift bags for veterans in various nursing homes. Annunciation to hold annual picnic

The annual Annunciation Church picnic will be held from Friday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 21 on the church grounds, 7580 Clinton St., Elma. There will be a car show, fish fry, and music on Friday. WNY Land Conservancy holds flower sale

The Western New York Land Conservancy is now taking orders for its annual flower sale. Orders must be received by Wednesday, Aug. 17. The pick-up time is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Orchard Glen Retirement Community, 6055 Armor Duells Road, Orchard Park. For questions regarding mums, call 649-8015. NFRRS seeks donations for coin drive

The Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service is accepting donations for its “Coin Drive.” Every $50 in coins sponsors a listener for a year, and $100 in coins buys a “reading radio” along with an on-air “salute” throughout the year. Coins can be dropped off any time this summer at 1199 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga. Donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 575, Buffalo, 14225. For information, call 821-5555.

Concert to benefit Hospice Buffalo

Strictly Hip will perform at the Summer Affair at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at AcQua (formerly Harry’s Harbour) along the Buffalo waterfront at 2192 Niagara St. The Summer Affair benefits Hospice Buffalo. Tickets are $50 per person and are available to purchase at www.hospicebuffalo.com, or by calling 686-8090. In addition, a drawing will be held for a $500 shopping spree at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga and a $75 gift certificate to Bravo Italian Restaurant. Raffle tickets are $5 each, or 3 for $10. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.

EA Moose Lodge holds blood drive

The East Aurora Moose Lodge, 905 Main St., will host a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. All donors will receive a coupon for a free box of chocolate dipped fruits from Edible Arrangements, as well as have a chance to win a free pair of Buffalo Bisons and Buffalo Bills preseason tickets. Donors are encouraged to call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment. Identification is required at the time of donation as well.

German-Polish festival at Spring Garden Park

The Spring Garden Association will host its first German-Polish Heritage Celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Spring Garden Park, 3838 Two Rod Road, East Aurora. Authentic beverages and food, as well as live music by The Ausländers and New Direction Band will be featured. Table reservations are available for $25 per person which include admission, dinner and beverage. General admission tickets cost $7 at door.
