State Police make DWI arrest after hit-and-run

State Police report the arrest of an East Aurora man following an alleged hit-and-run, personal injury accident in the Town of Darien, Genesee County.

Trooper Timothy Roof located a vehicle abandoned on Two Rod Road in Marilla matching the license plate reported involved in the accident during a search of the area near the offender's address. Roof had been notified by a homeowner of someone in his backyard.

Roof located 23-year-old Jonathan Murphy hiding in a cornfield. Murphy was arrested and turned over to Genesee County sheriffs deputies. He was reportedly charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury automobile accident and other vehicle and traffic charges.

He will appear in Darien Town Court at a later date.
