Ox Roast set for Labor Day
East Aurora’s annual Ox Roast party is set once to take over Firemen’s Field at the foot of Pine Street this Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
This year’s festivities mark the 35th consecutive year for the roast, hosted by the East Aurora Fire Department. Each year averages approximately 2,000 guests.
Available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the department will serve approximately 3,000 pounds. of beef. The event serves as the department’s largest fundraiser throughout the year, with money raised going to help maintain its station at 575 Oakwood Ave., East Aurora.
The money is also used to help cover expenses on equipment upkeep and supplements other necessary expenses volunteers needed to provide the public with adequate fire protection and emergency care.
The ox roast raises roughly $10,000 annually, serving party-goers roast beef sandwiches, corn on the cob, pizza, hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as several beverages, including soft drinks, beer and wine coolers.
Additionally, other forms of entertainment will also be available, including live music and rides.
