Library hours

Summer hours are as follows: 1 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.

Winter hours are effective Tuesday, Sept. 7 and are as follows: 1 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays; 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

Library events

• The Friends of the Aurora Town Public Library is accepting

book donations on Saturday, Sept. 11, for the used book sale to be held in June 2011. Books may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the East Aurora Library, 550 Main St. No textbooks, Reader’s Digest, encyclopedias or magazines will be accepted. For information, call 652-4440.

Elma Public Library

Summer hours are as follows: 1 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays.

Winter hours are effective Tuesday, Sept. 7 and are as follows: 1 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays; closed Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Library events

• The Friends of the Elma Public Library will hold its annual

book sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24. In addition, there will be an exclusive presale from 9 to 10 a.m. that day. A bag sale will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. The sale will be held at the Elma Senior Center, 3007 Bowen Road, Elma. The organization is seeking gently used books that can be donated by calling or visiting the library.

Marilla Free Library

Library hours

Summer hours are in effect as follows: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The library will be closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Winter hours are effective Tuesday, Sept. 7 and are as follows: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The library will be closed Fridays and Sundays.

Library events

The Friends of the Marilla Free Library is now accepting books for its annual book sale. Do not bring Reader’s Digest condensed books or National Geographic magazines. Books may be dropped off at the library during regular hours. The book sale will go from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Marilla Community Center, 1810 Two Road Road (next to Town Hall). For more information, call the library.

• Young people ages 16 and younger may participate in Read Down You Fines through Saturday, Sept. 4. Visit the library, select your reading material and read in the designated area. Each 15 minutes of reading will earn $1 in Reading Bucks. Other offers are available as well. For full details, visit the library.

Library hours

Hours are as follows: 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays; 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays; and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Library events

• The library’s free story hour will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. The program is for children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. Stories and crafts will be available weekly.

• A story time will also be held for students entering grades one and two in September from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, including Sept. 7. Space is limited to 15 children, so register with the library.

• The library will have a second used book sale from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the library. Books will be available for $0.25 per paperback and $1.00 per hardcover. A $5 bag sale will also be available.

The libraries are scheduled to be closed Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day. The libraries will re-open Tuesday, Sept. 7.
